This 3 day outdoor training class is one of several training activities that direct contact Boy Scout leaders must have in order to be considered "Fully Trained" for recharter purposes.

The proper knowledge of outdoor skills by adult leaders is critical for the unit to be successful in their outdoor activities.  This class will provide the leader with basic outdoor skills needed for that success to happen.  All of the skills taught are based on the skills found in the Boy Scout Handbook.  Some of the skills covered are campsite selection, fire site selection and building, knots and lashings, wood tools, map and compass, outdoor ethics, flag etiquette, plants and animal identification, campfire program, and cooking and sanitation.

Prior to the training session, participants will be divided into patrols.  Each patrol will be required to supply their own food for the weekend and all gear necessary, both personal gear and patrol gear, for a weekend campout.  Each patrol will be expected to select a patrol name, design a patrol flag, create a patrol yell, and prepare a song and a skit for the Saturday night campfire.  Further details will be given after registration and before the weekend session.

Class size is limited to 32 participants.  There is a minimum of 5 participants to conduct the class.  Please register online early to insure your spot in the class.

Please bring paper and pen/pencil, Boy Scout Handbook, Troop Leaders Guidebook Vol  # 1, the BSA Field Uniform as described by the Uniform Inspection Sheet.

All registrations must be timely made on Doubleknot by 03/17/2017 .  No one will be added after the cutoff date.
