Scouting for Food is the annual food drive coordinated by the Heart of Virginia Council to benefit FeedMore. Last year about 160,000 pounds of food was collected by Scouts, one of the top food drives in central Virginia. Recruit a parent in your unit to coordinate this for your Pack, Troop, Crew, or Ship and complete the following survey form. Please include this important community service project in your unit's program for this Fall. The dates for Scouting for Food are October 27th and November 3rd, 2018.
*Unit Type and Number:
(e.g., Pack 840, Troop 715, Crew 6535, Ship 1832)
*Approximate number of Cubs/Scouts/Venturers/Sea Scouts in your unit:
*Unit Scouting for Food Coordinator's Name:
*Unit Scouting for Food Coordinator's email:
*Unit Scouting for Food Coordinator's cell phone:
*District Roundtables in October. When will you pickup your Scouting for Food bags?

Please consider asking your District Scouting for Food Chairman for a larger area to cover this year. Twelve years ago, we collected nearly 1/3 of a million pounds of food, but we collected only half of that last year. FeedMore needs our help to serve the large number of needy folks in our community, so please consider doubling the time that you spend distributing bags and hopefully we can exceed our goals for this year.

Requests for assigned neighborhoods/areas or other messages for your District Scouting for Food Chairman
(Responses will be passed along to the District SFF Chairman; however, these are merely requests and not guarantees of assignments.)

After submitting this survey, please coordinate with your District’s Scouting For Food Chairman about what territory you will cover this fall and promote Scouting For Food in your neighborhood’s newsletter, Facebook page or other communication outlet.

Bags are to be delivered to doorsteps in your assigned territory on, or close to, October 27th and must be collected on Saturday morning November 3rd.  Instructions will be printed on the bags.  Arrange meeting times for your Scouts and parents to deliver and collect bags.  After you are finished with collection on November 3rd, be sure to log service hours at .
Not only is this a great project to support the food bank and those in need, it also teaches service to our Scouts and makes them feel more connected to the larger community.
